Dean Medicare Plans
Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, The Dean Health System has been providing health care since 1904. Dean is a privately held organization, governed and owned by mainly physcians, a number that reaches close to ninety-five percent. The Dean Health System offers the Dean Health Plan, health care clinics, and owns a pharmacy benefit manager, Navitus.The Dean Health Plan is a subsidary of the Dean Health System and is a commercial Medicare and Medicaid plan which covers close to 272,000 lives. It was formed in 1983 and has been recognized as one of America's Best Health Plans according to U.S. News & World Report in 2005 and is now ranked #101 in Medicare Health Plans. Dean has 500 employees with over 1,900 practitioners at 80 clinic sites along with 26 hospitals.
Dean also holds an 'Excellence Accreditation' from the National Committee of Quality Insurance, which is the highest accreditation that can be offered.
DeanCare Rx
DeanCare Rx is a prescription drug plan for beneficiaries who are Medicare eligible in Wisconsin. Members are able to choose from over 50,000 pharmacies across the nation and prescriptions can be filled either in person, mail-order, or online. DeanCare Rx covers prescription drugs under Medicare Part D.
DeanCare Gold Benefit
DeanCare Gold is a Medicare approved HMO product. DeanCare Gold offers three plans- The Enhanced plan, The Shared Value plan, and The Basic plan.
Doctor Choice
No referral is required for in-network doctors, specialists, and hospitals. Out-of-network doctors may not be covered under the plan, however Medicare will pay for its share and the member will pay the Medicare Part B deductible and coinsurance under all DeanCare Gold plans.
Hospital Visits
A $200 co-pay is required at the start of each hospital visit with the Shared Value Plan, however additional days in the hospital do not require a deductible. The Basic Plan covers 90 days for each visit, while the Enhanced Plan does not have a limit per hospital visit.
The DeanCare Gold Benefit also covers Mental Health Care, Chiropratic and Podiatry Services, as well as Home Health Care.
Dean Optical
Dean Optical specializes in Computer Vision Syndrome, and treats ocular infections and diseases as well as removal and treatment of foreign bodies. Dry eye management and treatment is provided as well. Dean Optical works with high-tech equipment such as Optos retinal examinations, SCOUT Corneal Topography and Matrix Visual Fields Screenings when checking for glaucoma.
St. Mary's Dean Ventures, Inc
The St. Mary's/Dean Ventures Inc. began as a joint venture between St. Mary's Hospital in Madison and Dean Health System in 1989. Their mission is to "improve the health of their community" by "providing unsurpassed quality and compassionate care to every patient, every time." Today there are over thirty Dean/St Mary's clinics providing this care in southern Wisconsin, as well as Dean/St Mary's Surgery Centers in Madison and Janesville.
Navitus Health Solutions
Dean became the full owner of Navitus Health Solutions in 2007. Navitus Health Solutions is a pharmacy benefit manager which covers nearly one million lives across the nation. Navitus provides pharmacy benefit services with rebates and discounts from drug manufacturers to plan sposors. Navitus holds a URAC accreditation.
Dean Foundation for Health, Research and Education
Founded in 1986, the Dean Foundation is governed by eleven volunteer Board of Directors who dedicate their time to improve health care, increase education and advance clinical research.
