Possible Cure for Type 2 Diabetes?

A Yale School of Medicine research team recently discovered that suppressing a liver enzyme which induces glucose production helps diminish the symptoms of type 2 diabetes in rats. Consequently, this reduces blood glucose concentrations, decreases the rate of glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity. Since type 2 diabetes is characterized by abnormally high blood glucose concentrations and insulin resistance, this discovery may help lead to an effective treatment or even cure for the condition.

In order to make their discovery, researchers put rats on a four week diet of high-fat and fructose meals to establish a metabolic condition that mimics type 2 diabetes. They injected an antisense oligonucleotide targeted to inhibit the expression of the Sirtiun 1 gene. Inhibiting Sirtiun 1 in the liver may then be an effective treatment for type 2 diabetes in humans since the disorder usually cannot be cured through exclusively proper diet and exercise.

The occurence rates of type 2 diabetes have doubled since 1990 and it is increasingly being diagnosed in children, despite being known as “adult-onset diabetes.” Due to its prominence in the US, research such as this on diabetes can help thousands of people in the US.

the standard treatment for diabetes is Metformin but i also try to use alternative medicine in controlling diabetes. Alpha Lipoic Acid and Charantia seems to work well too against diabetes.

Diabetes today is mostly caused by a lifestyle that has less exercise and too much sugar. Diabetes can be easily avoided by just doing simple exercises each day like jogging and avoiding sugars. If you already have diabetes, exercise is still the best way to manage it. Food supplements like Charantia and Chromium also helps.

I’ve been reading about the Raw Food Diet and they have been doing studies on folks with diabetes. Studies did show that within 4 days they were off insulin and within 30 days, pretty much recovered.

It’s what we’re putting into our bodies + artificial stuff leads to—> weight gain=diabetes and other conditions. We need to use what we were given and eat to survive, not survive to eat.
