Medicare Providers - Mutual of Omaha

Mutual of Omaha is a full-service, multi-line provider of insurance and financial services products, established in 1909. At its fifteenth anniversary, Mutual ranked eighth among insurance companies in premiums received and seventh in claims paid. Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company has earned strong ratings from three major rating services: A.M. Best, Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s.

Mutual of Omaha offers a variety of Medicare plans, including Medicare supplement insurance plans and Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Insurance.

Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Insurance can help you protect yourself against the rising costs of prescription drugs by helping you save money on your current prescription drugs and also on medications you may take in the future. This plan can also offer you even greater savings and convenience through mail order and it covers most of the top 200 brand-name and generic drugs. Mutual of Omaha offers AdvantraRx, a Medicare-approved prescription drug plan, through a relationship with Coventry Health Care. Each plan has its own monthly premium, co-payments, and lists of covered drugs and participating pharmacies to meet a variety of common needs.

The three AdvantraRx plans offered are AdvantraRx Value, AdvantraRx Premier, and AdvantraRx Premier Plus. In the case of each plan, you pay a low monthly premium, but never a deductible. You pay one co-payment for a 30 day supply of each prescription filled at a pharmacy and two co-payments for a 90-day supply through mail order. When your total prescription drug costs reach $2,510 each year, you begin paying 100% of the cost of your drugs. If your total out-of-pocket expenses for formulary drugs (this includes co-payments and your 100% payments) reach $4,050 a year, you enter the catastrophic coverage phase. You pay the greater of 5% of drug costs or $2.25 for generic and $5.60 for brand name drugs.

In order to determine your need for a prescription drug plan, you may find it useful to ask yourself what prescription drugs you are currently taking, the cost of these prescriptions each month and year, and if you will be able to budget any changes in your prescription drug needs if. People who are entitled to Medicare Part A or enrolled in Part B may apply for the Part D plan, including those who are under 65 with a disability on Medicare. Income doesn’t matter unless an individual is enrolling for a government subsidy.
