Some of the carriers we represent in the state of Kansas are Mutual of Omaha and UniCare. In Kansas 84% of Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in some type of prescription drug plan, including 61% with Medicare Part D coverage. Each Medicare member in Kansas has the resources to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan  whose highest out of pocket cost will not exceed  $3,400.

There are 46 Medicare drug plans available in the state. In 2009, the smallest premium was $19 per month. There are 18 plans that have $0 deductibles. For a prescription drug plan with generic coverage within the gap, the lowest premium was $65.30. There are also 9 plans in Kansas that offer $0 monthly premiums for individuals eligible for government assistance.

State Assistance Programs

If you cannot afford to pay for your prescription medications, you may qualify for extra help. If you have an income less than $16,245 per year for individuals or $21,855 per year for a married couple. If you are eligible for financial assistance, Medicare will pay for most of your prescription drug costs and you will automatically receive help paying premiums, deductibles, copays for your Medicare prescription medication policy and you will not have a coverage gap.
