Aetna’s HMO Medicare Standard Plan has a monthly premium of $29.  For primary care visits there is $25 copay when the primary care physician is notified.  For specialist visits there is $45 copay and members receive one annual physical exam.  There is $250 copay for the first 7 days for inpatient hospital care and $250 copay per outpatient visit.  Pharmacy is included, see plan for details.

Aetna’s Medicare Basic Plan HMO has a monthly premium of $0.  For primary care visits there is $25 copay when the primary care physician is notified.  For specialist visits there is $45 copay and members receive one annual physical exam.  There is $250 copay for the first 7 days for inpatient hospital care and $250 copay per outpatient visit.  Pharmacy is not included.

Aetna’s Medicare Premier Plan has a monthly premium of $118.50.  For primary care visits there is $15 copay when the primary care physician is notified.  For specialist visits there is $35 copay and members receive one annual physical exam and one annual eye exam.  There is $175 copay for the first 10 days for inpatient hospital care and $200 copay per outpatient visit.  Pharmacy is included, see plan for details.

The difference between HMO and PPO plans in Medicare is that PPO, or Preferred Provider Organization plans offer beneficiaries the choice of their primary care physician and the choice of what health care provider they would like to go to at a higher copay rate.  However, Health Maintenance Organization or HMO plans tend to be more affordable.
